A new fundraiser for the Ontario County Historical Society has more places to purchase maps to the October fall foliage adventure.
Canandaigua, NY – The Ontario County Historical Society’s new fundraiser shows off the best that October has to offer – fall colors at their peak in the Bristol Hills. Maps are now available at several locations for this month-long October event.
The Trail has expanded locations where maps can be purchased. A $20 donation to the Ontario County Historical Museum at any of the following locations earns a Fall Foliage map, a county tourism map,an information folder and four wristbands for access to the October 17 Community Day activities:
The southern Ontario County towns of Bristol, South Bristol and Naples are known for their autumn beauty. The Fall Foliage Trail map takes guests through these towns, their villages and hamlets and provides historical stops and local shops to visit and the best places to take photos of the fall scenery.
A photo contest, sponsored by the Ontario County Arts Council, offers $300 for the best photo, along with several other cash prizes. Entries for up to 3 photos are $25 for adults over 18 and free for youth shutterbugs. For more information on the contest and its rules, visit www.ochs.org.
Community Day, October 17, will be a memorable day with access to special tours at select stops shown on the Trail Map. Eight behind-the-scenes tours will be offered at historical places like the Bristol Valley Theater, Burning Springs archeological dig and Naples Historical Society Museum. About the Fall Foliage Tour
The Ontario County Historical Society Fall Foliage Trail is a new twist on the organization’s annual fundraiser. In exchange for a $20 donation, guests will receive a map, information and admission for 4 to travel the trail. For the entire month of October 2015, the trail includes historical stops with tours, local shops with specials and scenic outlooks for taking photos to participate in the photo contest. October 17 is Community Day with special tours at select stops.
