Please note that the Phelps Transfer Station will be closed today (Wednesday, March 15 2017) due to the weather.
Please note; the Village of Phelps has no elections this year. Two trustee seats will be up in 2018, with the remaining two and the Mayor in 2020. Thank you.
With winter upon us, here is a reminder of a few things to put on your to-do list. The Village DPW does keep the sidewalks clear of snow but it is done as a courtesy not a policy. It is still the homeowner’s responsibility to keep their sidewalks clear of snow and ice. We have had a couple of falls on ice covered sidewalks already, so please be aware of your sidewalk condition. Also to keep in mind are the fire hydrants near your homes, keeping these clear of snow and ice could not only save a house but also a life. Thank you for adding these to your to-do list and have a safe and fun winter.
Mayor, Village of Phelps
Due to the weather and lack of a quorum; the Zoning Board of Appeals meeting on Monday evening was cancelled rescheduled for Monday, December 19th.
The Phelps Fire Department would like to remind the community of Phelps that the property behind the Fire house and Fire hall on Ontario St is private not public property and is owned and maintained by the volunteers of the Fire Department, not the Village. The community is more than welcome to utilize this area as long as you respect the fact that it is our property. You are welcome to walk your dogs as long as you clean up after them.
We have had issues in the past with people driving out back and tearing up the property with trucks and ATV’s. ATV’s or off-road vehicles are strictly prohibited. As many of you may have noticed, we have placed a cable across the driveway by the two little league fields to prevent vehicles from accessing the upper fields, we apologize for any inconvenience however you may still walk out back.
Also please remember that as we enter baseball season there will be many young kids running around at the baseball fields please respect a 5MPH speed limit while driving up and down the driveway. The Fire Department would like to thank you for support and cooperation.
The Phelps Food Cupboard accepts non perishables (canned and dry goods, toilet paper, diapers, coffee, peanut butter, cereal etc) or cash donations. If you would like to donate to the Food Cupboard call 548-8897.
