Following the December 2015 Phelps Chamber of Commerce board meeting, a special ceremony was held to present Bette Collier (Judd Collier Graphic Design) with a plaque thanking her for all she’s done in the past several years in Phelps. This special surprise, also attended by Mayor Jim Cheney, was planned secretly in lieu of the traditional “white elephant” gift exchange that usually follows the December board meetings.
Bette Collier has been active in the Phelps Chamber since the early 2000s when she started her graphic design business, Judd Collier Graphic Design. Over the years, Bette has designed the Chamber newsletter, worked on Events & Marketing committees, and created several Sauerkraut Festival floats for the Chamber. JCGD designs newsletters, brochures, logos and graphics for print and web. Judd Collier Graphic Design has also created the brochures, rack cards, logo and banners for the Phelps Sauerkraut Weekend. She has served as Chamber President for the last five years, but in 2016 will be embarking on a new chapter as she moves to a new location. To say that she will be missed by the Phelps Chamber of Commerce is a gross understatement.
Preceding the presentation, elections were held for the 2016 Board and Officers. Tammy Halco (Halco) will be stepping in as the the new President of the Chamber, and the board is also pleased to welcome back Tina Suhr (Benemy Welding & Fabrication) who will be returning to serve as Vice President. In addition, Sarah Hamilton (Phelps BDTC) will also be joining to serve as a board member.
Though these changes are bittersweet, the Phelps Chamber of Commerce is excited about Building Connections in Phelps in the new year!
