Much of New York State is currently experiencing drought conditions. As a result, many water bodies, including Canandaigua Lake, are at lower levels than normal and continue to drop. The Village of Clifton Springs, the Village of Phelps, and the Town of Phelps purchase our water from the Village of Newark. The water purchased comes from Canandaigua Lake.
The City of Canandaigua has issued voluntary water restrictions and the Village of Clifton Springs and the Village of Phelps and the Town of Phelps are now issuing voluntary water restrictions as well. For this reason we are asking the communities to voluntarily reduce water usage by not watering lawns, washing cars, etc. It is our hope that this proactive approach will prevent more stringent measures.
