Wine and Dine in Phelps

Phelps has a wide variety of dining venues and a unique experience to taste local wine and beer. Phelps offers food from cafes to high end dining at the Historic Phelps Hotel Restaurant. Water Side Wine Bar offers a great selection of wine and beers, an eclectic limited menu for dinner and you can enjoy all while relaxing on the patio overlooking the majestic Flint Creek Falls.

For casual dining there are several restaurants in the village. Also enjoy an ice cream from one of the three places in town.

Open Wednesday through Friday 10 a.m. to 4p.m. Come and visit the Howe House Museum, the Country Lawyer’s Office, or take a walking tour of the historic downtown Phelps. A large variety of programs,  exhibits and special events  are offered throughout the year.

Family parks to enjoy

Redfield Park, located on Church Street, is a community park with a gazebo, concession building, a baseball field and playground where outdoor summer concerts are held. The Methodist Memorial Park on Main Street is a great spot for a picnic under its majestic trees. The Phelps Community Center also hosts a full playground & sports fields. The Crooked Bridge Park, Phelps newest park, is located on Williams Street. Here you can splash in the creek or picnic. All of the village parks have bag containers to help you clean up after your dog.

The Phelps Community Center is in the heart of the village. It offers a variety of programs and activities for children of all ages.  A gym, sports fields and a computer lab are available for use by residents of Phelps.

A number of small businesses and organizations are also in the Phelps Office Complex, including the Phelps Village Office, the Phelps Community Memorial Library, Ontario ARC and the  Child Advocacy Center of the Finger Lakes.

Ontario Pathways

On Route 96, Ontario Pathways is a great hiking and biking trail that connects Phelps to Canandaigua. This trail is free to the public and open year round. Enjoy the many scenic views, while taking the family out for an afternoon of exercise and fun.

Phelps Sauerkraut Weekend

The Phelps Sauerkraut Weekend is held every year on the first weekend in August. This four day festival celebrates our history, when Phelps was the largest producer of sauerkraut in the world. The festival includes a fabulous parade, recipe contest, rides and a free piece of sauerkraut cake for everyone!
