Heat Advisory in Effect for Wednesday, July 16, 2025

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for parts of Western and Central New York, including Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Wayne, Northern Cayuga, Oswego, Jefferson, Livingston, and Ontario Counties.

When: Wednesday, July 16, from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM EDT  What to Expect: Heat index values in the mid to upper 90s Impacts: High temperatures and humidity may lead to heat-related illnesses, especially for vulnerable groups

Vulnerable Populations to Watch:
- Older adults may struggle with heat regulation and mobility
- Children are more susceptible to dehydration and heat exhaustion
- Medically fragile individuals may need uninterrupted access to cooling, medications, or medical equipment

Safety Tips:
- Stay hydrated and in air-conditioned spaces like our Ontario County Cooling Centers (see the graphic)
- Avoid strenuous outdoor activity during peak heat
- Check on neighbors, especially those living alone or with health conditions
- Never leave children or pets in vehicles
